Measure for a Kid Friendly Fit

MATERIALS

  • 8.5” x 11” paper

  • Ruler

  • Pencil

HOW TO DO IT

STAND ON PAPER IN SOCKS OR BARE FEET
Have your child stand on the paper, placing their full weight on the foot being measured.
Their entire foot should be on the paper.
MARK AT HEEL AND TOE
Make a mark at the heel, and another at the longest toe.
MEASURE
Measure the distance between the two marks. Jot down your number.
REPEAT

Repeat with other foot.

FIND SIZE
Using the number from the larger foot, consult chart to determine size.
NOTE
Note that shoe size is not consistent among different shoe brands.
If in doubt, buy the larger size. Your kids are growing!

Toddler Size 47.5 (new walkers to age 2)

  • Typical toddler foot growth is 1/16”–1/8” (.15–.3 cm) per month.
  • Measure frequently; expect to outgrow shoes every 2–4 months.

Little Kid Size 8-13.5 (2 to 5 years)

  • Expect to replace your Little Kid's shoes every 3–6 months.
  • Foot growth rate will slow to around 1/2" per year, and growth spurts are unpredictable.
  • Consider ordering a half-size up—if new shoes are a bit big, they won't be for long.
